Summit Climb Calbuco Volcano

The day before the excursion we will meet to check our equipment , share information and do the paperwork. This is an exciting journey to the top of Volcano Calbuco, it will begin at 5:00 am at our meeting point. We will drive from Puerto Varas to the Valle los Ulmos in Ensenada and we will arrive at our starting point where the adventure will begin by a hike up the mountain following a forest ridge for about 1-2 hours. We will pass through rich forests and volcanic landscapes to arrive at the tree line at 1.100 meters. We will walk over the field where we will enjoy a beautiful view over the Llanquihue lake and the Andes.

The route continues for another 1-2 hours over the ridge until we arrive at 1.800 meters to the border of the main crater. The last part of the way to the summit is an exposed ridge. In winter and spring it is covered with snow, so the terrain is more stable. In late spring, summer and autumn is more complicated due to the falling rocks but it is not technical, it just required to climb carefully for 1-2 hours.  Our reward is a spectacular view that stretches as far as the Pacific Ocean.  After enjoying a delicious lunch at the summit, we carefully descend from the crater. We will use the same route to come back, approx. 4-6 hours.
