Sea Kayak, Cahuelmó Hotsprings and Trekking Caleta Gonzalo
Day 1:
Departure early in the morning, leaving from your hotel, we ride by coach south on the southern highway, our destination the village of Hornopirén. We will arrive there in five hours. This is the northern entrance of the Pumalín Project. After eating lunch, we shall navigate toward this beautiful baths, composed of rustic tubs that had been carved in rocks years ago by local people. Each one is a different size and all have very hot water, easily regulated by simple and natural methods to find the temperature desired for an extremely pleasant bath. These baths are part of the Pumalín Project and thus have comfortable camping facilities and bathrooms. We proceed to prepare our camp in order to enjoy the rest of the afternoon in this incredible place, with a beautiful sunset and have a relaxing night at the hot springs.
Day 2:
We will have early breakfast. Those who wish to enjoy the hot springs at sunrise must wake up very early in the morning. Today we shall to enjoy all the possibilities that the area offers to us, starting by the hot springs, salmon fishing, recollection of shellfish during the low tide and paddling the sea kayaks. Low tide is the perfect moment to start the hike to Lake Abascal, approximately 7 miles from camp. Nestle between tremendous spires of the Andes. We shall enjoy dramatic scenery on this hike and star making our way back to base camp in the afternoon to arrive for dinner, and after a long day, a relaxing soak in the springs.
Day 3:
We will have breakfast 09:00 AM. Today we shall enjoy our last morning in our base camp waiting for high tide to start navigating back across the Comau fjord, arriving later to Leptepú to meet the ferry and continue to Caleta Gonzalo.

Day 4:
Transfer from Caleta Gonzalo. A private transfer will take us to the Pumalín Park, we will go to see the destruction of the old Chaitén city by the ash of Chaitén Volcano, and also we could hike the volcano to have a great view of his proplastid field destruction, his Caldera Volcano and the surrounding. We will head to Caleta Gonzalo, our base. During this drive, you’ll be able to appreciate beautiful landscapes of the southern highway (Carretera Austral). Then we’ll dinner at the Cafeteria.
Day 5:
Breakfast early in the morning. This morning we stay around Caleta Gonzalo to appreciate its surroundings and to visit their Organic Agricultural Development, unique to Pumalín Park. After lunch, we will visit a different area to explore a trail in the forest. This trails will take us through impressive water fall of this temperate rain forest amazing native forest like the Alerce also we are going to appreciate wonderful views of the whole area. We will return to our base for another exquisite dinner.
Day 6:
We will have breakfast early in the morning, before we start our retreat of the Pumalín Park. A van will be waiting to drive us to Santa Barbara airport. At one point we will stop for a short walk of 15 minutes that takes us through a forest to some of the oldest arboreal species in the planet, the Alerce, with some trees topping three thousand years of age. Don’t forget to take your camera! Afterwards, we will continue heading for the airport in Santa Barbara to get our flight to Puerto Montt.
