Measures for entry and exit from Chile

With the arrival of coronavirus, various countries implemented control measures for entering and leaving their national territory. During the month of August 2022, a change on these measures was announced starting on September 1, 2022. More detailes below:

  • It will not be necessary to complete form C19 (Travellers Declaration).
  • You can enter with a vaccination certificate delivered by the country where you were vaccinated plus your identity document.
  • Unvaccinated people must present a negative PCR with a maximum of 48 hours from departure to Chile.
  • The up-to-date vaccination certificate will be equivalent to the Mobility Pass for non-resident foreign tourists.
  • Genomic surveillance (Covid Test) continues through random testing at hotspots like international airports.

Border Crossings

One of the initial measures of the pandemic containment plan was the closure of land border crossings and the entry into force of strict regulations for the Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, located in the capital of Santiago de Chile.

Since May 1, 22 land border crossings have been enabled (of 40 that exist in Chile). The measure is part of the Normalization Plan, dependent on the Border Crossing Unit (Unidad de Pasos Fronterizos – UPF) of the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security, together with the Customs comptroller services, the Livestock Agricultural Service (Servicio Agrícola Ganadero – SAG), the National Migration Service and the Investigative Police (Policía de Investigaciones – PDI).
